The so-called “March For Our Lives” protestors convened in Big Spring Park this morning marching around town and back again chanting and displaying posters.
In years past there have been as many as three or four hundred demonstrators but the movement in Huntsville has clearly fizzled out in spite of renewed interest after Uvaldi. The 50 or so marchers were mostly of a mature age with few high school aged kids that would represent the original movement organizers.
The March For Our Lives movement is mostly a reactionary attempt to dismantle the US Constitution beginning with the second and then the first amendment. They generally avoid the easy common sense solutions to stopping violence in schools like establishing appropriate social guidelines among students at school, closing the doors to the outside when students are in classrooms and watching surveillance monitors when school is in session. Thus revealing that other ulterior political motives are actually driving the movement.
