The photo above was taken in 2005 when the fiddler guitarist of legendary country/pop band Alabama stopped over in Huntsville to sign autographs at the historic Harrison Brother’s Hardware store in downtown Huntsville. The band was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005.

Even though the turnout has been heavy throughout the nation, I found this oddly low turnout at my polling place this morning about 9:00 a.m. I do usually time my arrival for the least likely crowd, but when the turnout is big, there are usually more than I found in line today.

I am a native of Alabama, and so I fully understand some of the undertow of animosity and consternation that decent people in the South sometimes feel about a past that we did not participate in and had nothing to do with. As such, I am frankly disgusted and fed up with the “good ole boys” who still think they can turn the clock back 100 years to a time, a country, and a way of life that simply doesn’t exist. It’s obtuse.
I figured good riddance and calculated what I thought might be a good sentence for the good ole boy. If he got the maximum of 20 years on each count, served consecutively, Mr. Hubbard would go to jail for 240 years – essentially a life sentence.
That’s not sarcasm.
Since when are federal judges above scrutiny?
These days, we have the resources and the ability to show grace and compassion, and acceptance, even if we don’t agree or understand. That’s why it’s called “civilization.” We don’t always do a very good job of it because there is a lot of malfeasance and corruption and witch doctors who make money on exploiting misery, or preventing happiness. The bottom line is that Luther Strange doesn’t need to be adding fuel to the fire to cultism, extremism, and corruption.
Dear “Christian” Alabamian, please take off your shoes and socks and stick your toes out in front of a vehicle rolling by on the street. I only hope I can offend the morons that much who actually voted to return Roy Moore to office after he had been removed the first time. This argument comes up over and over again, and it truly is tiresome, but some people just don’t get it. It isn’t about your faith, it isn’t about whether or not you are a Christian, it isn’t about whether or not you agree with same sex marriage. It’s about the constitution stupid.
