The parade commenced as scheduled with an amazing number of courageous onlookers braving the cold with wind chills around 20°. I staked out a vantage point between buildings where the wind wasn’t blowing quite as much while a lively crowd gathered along Jefferson Street hooten and hollering along with the wind being funneled in like it was green beer.
A support rally for Ukraine was held at the Big Spring Park Gazebo in downtown Huntsville this afternoon. This video live streamed on Twitch begins with a/the Ukrainian anthem and an inspiring and heartfelt prayer prior to the introduction of speakers.
This live walkabout in downtown Huntsville features Huntsville’s renown Spite House, Maria Howard Weeden, a desperado named Frank James the older brother of Jesse James no less, and the first Confederate Secretary of War Leroy Pope Walker who gave the word to fire upon Fort Sumter starting the Civil War.

I thought thirty minutes would really just be the beginning and so after a little while I decided to move down the parade route and exit back around to take a look at some of the tree lights in Big Spring Park. And then – there was Santa Clause bringing up the rear!
