A support rally for Ukraine was held at the Big Spring Park Gazebo in downtown Huntsville this afternoon. This video live streamed on Twitch begins with a/the Ukrainian anthem and an inspiring and heartfelt prayer prior to the introduction of speakers. I stayed to live stream the first two speakers who expressed gratitude for the help they have recieved from the international community.
But they said, “it is not enough” and gave impassioned pleas for additional aid and weapons, and calling for an embargo on Russian oil and no fly zones. The second speaker from Austin Texas said she has started online schooling for American and Ukrainian children.

Yellow and blue balloons that adorned the rally were blown around on a very windy and unusually warm, not yet spring day. Signs, placards and banners were displayed extolling Ukraine and lambasting Putin – some comparing him to Hitler – and calling on the Russian people to “defy your tyrant.”
With the especially nice weather I also took the opportunity to do a short walkabout seeing some of the other, less urgent, activities in Big Spring Park.
