U.S. Paralympics Cycling Open – Hand-cycle Relays

The U.S. Paralympics Cycling Open, presented by Toyota, is underway at two locations in Huntsville April 8-10, 2022. The first event, the hand-cycle relays, are the subject of this video. More racing categories with time trials are on Saturday morning in Research Park with road races also in Research Park on Sunday at noon. This is the second year for the U.S. Paralympics Open in Huntsville.

This event followed a .85 mi. course around Big Spring International Park in a race consisting of 8 teams with 3 cyclers on each team. Each cycler runs a full lap handing off to the next team member and then returning to await a second and then third round for each team member for a total of 9 laps with a total distance of about 7.64 mi.
