Truth be knowed, while all eyes were on “angry white males” as many in their ranks were being throwed under the buss to make room for black folks, white women like Hillary Clinton jumped-up and headed up front too, mostly displacing the potential for black men, and even some black women to advance.
I believe in the American dream, not the American delusion. If you were to examine the war crimes of Bashar al-Assad, who is little more than the mayor of a large American city, could you really tell the difference, conceptually, between his tactics and the ones outlined in the New York Times story? I certainly can’t. We are not yet in an all out war in this country, but if law enforcement is allowed to disregard constitutional values because they say they have cornered some bad guys, where will they stop if they hold an extremist sectarian view like Kim Davis and the TEA Party zealots? When do their tactics become enforcement of their agenda instead of legitimate law?
Loretta was in fact largely motivated by the extremist in the feminist movement. Most folks are familiar with the highly charged rhetoric in the abortion debate. Pro-choice women are often referred to as “femi-nazis” by pro-life advocates. While the rhetoric is sincere in it’s own context, few would expect that “femi-naziism” would extend beyond the abortion debate to actually include holocaust, genocide, eugenics, and ethnic cleansing – of people already born.
I’m surprised that Shipp’s attorney’s didn’t pursue a temporary insanity defense. Although we know that the standard of insanity defense in the State of Alabama is so high, that it is virtually never successful. In my opinion, while Kenneth Shipp might have acted irresponsibly in some ways, and it does seem obvious that he picked up his gun and pulled the trigger, the aggravating circumstances add up to manslaughter and twenty years – not life in prison.
Roy Moore lost his license a long time ago. If he and the Alabama Supreme Court can’t come up with a valid legal argument based on the US Constitution, it’s simply time to accept that separation of Church and State and the integrity of the US Constitution is more important than Roy Moore’s fear of the apocalypse.
And just one more thing. I like Henry Louis Gates and his remake of “Roots.” And, I know some people may not think he is European enough, never-the-less, he is my nomination to be the next Cuban Ambassador. Now, Cosmo and Steve Harvey are gonna start aksing funny too. The moral of the story is: ain’t nobody straight, if everybody be aksing funny.
That a jailer can’t see someone is dying because it’s too expensive to bother with, that a poorly trained police officer finds it more efficient to kill someone wielding a knife because it’s “in accordance with Departmental policies,” and he can get away with it, that gang violence in the jail can go totally unchecked allowing an innocent victim to be brutally murdered, that the promotion of Lewis Morris Jr. actually stands as an endorsement of child molestation and torture… are all the exemplary results of the attitude that Tommy Battle embraces.
Where does Hobby Lobby fit into the equation – “a method of social, occupational and political control, to the point of subjugation, that is in their best economic or political interest.” Why do you think they call it the “Hobble” Lobby?
And besides, who ever heard of sauntering into the old west saloon with a long gun in the first place? Surely you watch TV. In all the westerns I’ve seen, when the cowboy crashes through the swinging saloon doors with a rifle, he’s either looking for the bad buy so he can shoot him, or he is the bad guy and he’s gonna shoot somebody. Either way, he isn’t looking for trouble, he is trouble.
Enough already. Who the hell is Adam Silver anyway? I suggest that from now on the ridiculous antics of sports be kept on the sports page where they belong, not the front page where real news is supposed to be.
