Browsing the Internet today and seeing the foundation of this great country continuing to wash away at an ever greater pace, I happened upon a notation of Whitesburg Baptist Church’s “I Love America Celebration.”
With a flag burning amendment threatening to end freedom of speech, with the Patriot Act ending the right to privacy, with Speedy Alberto Gonzales on his way to the Supreme Court where he can fully end due process for all, with the end of freedom of press coming from myriad directions including the loss of source protection, with the Supreme Court giving government absolute authority to seize private assets including that of tax free Churches, you gotta wonder why Jimmy Jackson continues to inspire faith based jingoism amoung the apparently blind masses.
In fact, as it all goes down the tubes, with it goes the basic right to free religion and worship.
Has Jimmy Jackson got enough flow from the back row to justify becoming Judas to the truly faithful and the future of their children and this country? Jingoism isn’t the answer, and this serves as a perfect example of why Church’s ought to mind their own business in the first place. Or, is it that Jimmy is getting all that money from the government now to help him run the faith based nursery?
Today I also looked out across Gateway Park where I could see the old Catholic Church downtown. Right next door to the Federal Courthouse, it would seem they would now be a great target for immanent domain. As noted before, I’m not Catholic, but once it starts, there it all goes. The Federal Courthouse is looking for a new place to build, and the old mental health center property is inappropriate. What’s to stop them from just taking over the Church next door so they can tear down both buildings and build something new.
Somebody wake up Jingo Jimmy and tell him the house is burning down and it ain’t the one he’s preaching jingoism in.
