With Congress already having passed a flag burning resolution, the bill now is headed for the Senate where some analysts say there is a better than 50% chance that they will pass the bill — even though it has failed to pass six times before.
Absolute power corrupts absolute, and as I recall Ted Turner, wise man that he is, once called Christians “stupid.” He eventually apologized, but for what I don’t know. While Christians are foolishly attempting to take over government with religion, the potential grows for a flag burning amendment that would essentially set the stage for the dissolution of all basic constitutional rights to unravel like a braided sisal rope without a boy scout.
W Bush has literally come into power by appointment as opposed to election, and the stupid fundamentalist Christian voters have allowed not only for a Republican president, but for both houses of Congress, and the Supreme Court, to be ruled by a single party that is ultimately serving only the interest of the party politburo and their aristocratic friends.
When the freedom of expression is gone, and the freedom of assembly is gone, and the freedom of press is gone, and Big Brother reigns supreme and tells you where to go and when to go and what to do, and keeps a record of it all so he can make corrections if you become errant — there will no longer exist in this
country the requisite freewill demanded by God for salvation.
If the senate does pass the bill, it has been asserted that the three quarters of states needed to actually ratify the amendment to become law is already expected.
If ever there was a case of throwing the baby out with the bath water, this is surely it, and when the smoke clears and the dust settles, the next generation will sit back and wonder what the hell were the idiots thinking who allowed it to happen.
