Huntsville City Hall Ground Breaking Construction

Groundbreaking is over and the heavy equipment is rolling on construction of Huntsville’s new Municipal building.

Ground breaking ceremonies are over and the heavy equipment is rolling on the construction site for Huntsville’s new Municipal building.

The new seven story building will be much larger than the existing City Hall incorporating many city offices and new parking for downtown.

Mayor Tommy Battle said yesterday that after evacuating and moving to the new digs, the old building will be demolished. His recommendation is that the the empty space be incorporated into Big Spring Park.

There has been no indication thus far as to whether a skybridge would be built over Church Street connecting Big Spring East to the rest of Big Spring Park.
