Well. The Supreme Court really didn’t mince words when it comes to overturning Roe V Wade. Below is the descriptive text posted on the SCOTUS website this morning. I also add, I never did appreciate having my name besmirched in the first place, and I’m happy to see that my good name has also been restored.
Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization (19-1392)
The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe v. Wade, 410 U. S. 113, and Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pa. v. Casey, 505 U. S. 833, are overruled; the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives.
One of the big problems for the abortion mongers is that the Supreme Court rational is based on reality and not on the magical thinking required to believe there ever was a constitutional right to abortion. There wasn’t, because it isn’t a form of birth control, it’s ending the life of the unborn. A woman can control her body, but it’s not about the woman, it’s about the unborn. This is very important to understand because the conversation going forward will be based on this principle and if they don’t get it, their words will be irrelevant and the attempt to protect other actual rights will be hampered.
Understanding the reality, however, will also likely lead to some more disappointment for the mongers. This Supreme Court has a perspective that hasn’t been recognized for fifty years. They are likely to continue hearing cases from liberal states that for now have authority to legalize any abortion they want to. When those cases arrive, the SCOTUS is likely to limit abortion in those states to the fetal viability standard. It’s about the baby. Abortion is now effectively illegal in about half the states. Once new cases are decided, abortion will probably be illegal or sharply curtailed in the liberal states too. And by the way, congress can’t supersede the Supreme Court. Whatever they might come up with in the short term isn’t likely to last permanently.
Some hyperbole in the media this morning says women will be free to travel to other states to get an abortion. This isn’t necessarily true. A woman who seeks abortion is unstable and must be monitored. Records of previous abortions can be reviewed retroactively to find out which women aren’t in their right mind providing red flags pointing to which ones need intervention. Once that is determined, they can be monitored by cameras and the community can come together to ensure they won’t make any decisions, or take any medications, dangerous to themselves or their baby.
This is a glorious day for the people of the United States. Many unborn lives will be saved, and even more after more restrictive legislation is handed down. Everything has changed. Everyone should accept the new reality so that everyone can enjoy this wonderful moment together. Unity is so important. I know many people are upset but universal acceptance of the new reality will lead to a happier America that we can all be proud of.
