This monument in Huntsville’s Historic Maple Hill Cemetery presents a beautifully carved relief perhaps to acknowledge the natural conclusion of life. I can’t say for sure, but I think the bowl at the top may be where the cremated remains of the dead carcass are placed. Rest in peace.
