Storms Reeks Havoc In Downtown Huntsville
This was the scene I found about 3:45 this afternoon in downtown Huntsville at the Marathon gas station, previously Jet Pep, located at the corner of Church and Pratt. Apparently a micro-burst hit the awning squarely during the storm that passed through earlier, around 1:30. Although I did see some other evidence of high winds, I’m not aware of any other damage at this time.
This storm also packed some serious and continuing lightening in the downtown and Five Points area. WHNT reported earlier on their news feed that their electricity had been knocked out by a lightening strike and that they were off the air, however, at this time it appears they are again broadcasting.
