A Benchmark Dog And Pony Show

NOTE: For those unaware, after retiring from my day job I headed out for an epic adventure – The Grand Slam Plan! I’m now riding a bicycle on the East Coast Greenway whilst being enchanted by the backroads of Maine. See my Instagram.

I’m still watching politics and will weigh in from time to time as the resources of this particular brand of bohemian lifestyle will allow. Believe me, I’ve got content galore plus more I’ll likely never catch up with – but resources are limited.

It’s not that I’m not paying attention while traveling, but it is onerous. I do have to say, the current political dog and pony show is one for the ages. So, if I’m not writing as much, it’s also for this reason. Have you ever been taking pictures when you had to deliberately put the camera down just to fully breathe in the scene. Well… it’s ’bout like that writing too. Pregnant pause I think you might say.

Is a black woman about to be elected president? Two weeks ago my money was still on Trump but now I’m not so sure. I’m still of the opinion that Joe should resign office and hand the woman the reigns. But, that might be patronizing and I believe Ms. Harris, courtesies aside, means to take the reins for herself.

Dog and pony show? Uh, well, yeah. You’d have to be blind or of younger generation not to see the markings of JFK all over this one. Sex scandals, crazy white men, affirmative action: or not, bullets flying … and the changing guard.

Changing of the Guard? Yep, and it’s a humdinger too. So, if Kammy is elected will she be a part of, or the folly of, JFK’s legacy? The show must go on and after all, the choreography and the theatre in this one is bound to soften the heart and beg for a sense of humor from liberals and conservatives alike.

The Supreme Court is settled. Will the calliope crash without it’s training wheels? Will the pyramid turn upside down, or will the pendulum simply swing with a twist. Twist it will, becsuse the 1950’s ain’t coming back politically or socially. Even still, what amounts to a defacto SCOTUS force majeure will likely have results considered by “liberals” to be unthinkinable and reprehensible.

Liberals are sometimes surprised to know that some women and even black folks are often conservative. Kammy isn’t, choosing to tow the party line which is even more liberal than Joe himself. So, as the force majeure creeps throughout the system in coming years and decades – will the “black” “woman” president continue to have positive relevance as a part of JFK’s legacy. Most likely so, but it’ll be a mixed bag.

Assuming she wins, that is. The show must go on and after all, the choreography and theatre in this one is bound to soften the heart and beg for a sense of humor from liberals and conservatives alike.
