Roy Moore Brought The Horse…

“Moral turpitude” and felony have never been exactly synonymous. And in fact, Alabama recently changed laws regarding many categories of conviction that now allows for those individuals to retain their voting rights. It is also an unfortunate fact that Alabama has the highest incarceration rate in the world and while it isn’t nice to say, black people are three times more likely to be convicted of a crime in this state.

A quick review of “moral turpitude” leaves one wondering how it ever got into the legal annals to begin with, since it is virtually never defined in a consistent manner and is always subjective depending on the context. Well, it seems to me that if we have a “community” it can and should deal in absolutes and the subjectivity of determining “moral turpitude” ought to be done away with completely.

To the extend that voting rights are denied, it seems more like a determination with a perspective based on voting as a privilege rather than a right. Nowadays, largely based on new DNA technology, hundreds even thousands, of convictions are being overturned and men are being release from incarceration because of faulty evidence and the reality that someone told an outright lie. It doesn’t make sense, unless a crime indicates some sort of very, very egregious intent – why further disenfranchise people when they could be encouraged to be responsible participating members of the community instead? And really, don’t all people have the right to representation, which is what voting is about to being with.

Alabama has made the right decision by sharply curtailing the categories of crime that disqualify voting rights. Roy Moore has aptly illustrated the reality that the highly subjective so-called “moral turpitude” is in fact a vestige of segregationism. Roy Moore’s attempt to denigrate the Jones campaign for registering legal voters is reprehensible, and yet another act of contempt – by the hanging judge.

Michelle Obama Wants TO Bring Back Our Girls!

It’s astonishing to think that this conversation, especially in the light of Obamacare, hasn’t already been held in earnest in public. The Obama’s are certainly not the only ones either. I am certain in saying that most of the children of U.S. presidents since Jimmy Carter were also test tube engineered at least for gender selection.

    Huntsville’s Gestapo Strikes Again!

No doubt about it, knives can be dangerous, as evidenced by the recent beheadings of singled out westerners by Middle Eastern Islamic extremists. All the knife wielding terrorist needed to do the dirty deed, was a fixed blade knife about six inches long… and a hostage with a bag over his head, and his hands tied behind his back, and a dozen or so like minded henchmen with automatic weapons on stand by.

The Death Of Cardinal Bernie Law

There was no legitimate reason for that abuse at the time, and there never has been any legal foundation for that abuse, which is universally considered illegal even during a time of war.

Hooo… weeeee…. look at that bunch in the photo. You might think they was out for a stroll on New Years day. They ain’t though. They was out running around in downtown Huntsville way back in September of 1999. Can you remember back that far? That wasn’t just last year, not just the last century […]

The Homeless War – In Your Own Backyard

The west coast sweep, apparently a well orchestrated and illegal conspiracy by those municipalities, appeared to begin in Seattle, Washington when a large encampment under a six mile expanse of elevated interstate was targeted and cleared out on the mayor’s order. One report suggested that as many as 5000 people were affected beginning in a camp where two people were killed on the same evening of the mayor’s announcement. Seattle is the city that actually budgeted to provide tickets out-of-town, based on unverifiable and arbitrary criteria.
