Godspeed Jimmy Carter

I am sad to hear of President Jimmy Carter’s passing and while I am in Georgia at this time just a few miles from Plains I will simply send my regrets to the family from here, rather than visiting in person, while I continue my journey home to Alabama.

Mr. Carter and Roslyn occupied the White House during my high school years when I was honored to be elected first as President of my junior class and then reelected to serve as President of my senior graduating class of ’80, and so I’ve enjoyed a rare affinity with other members of “the presidents club.”

The politics of the day led by President Carter was impactful on myself and others and are times that will always be remembered. Life does have its limits so RIP and Godspeed to Jimmy as I’m sure he and Roslyn will be gratefully together again.
