Solar Eclipse 2017

The 2017 solar ecipse in Huntsville only reached 97% of totality, but I still got a pretty good shot.

Already, the historic event is passed and now we find ourselves on the far side of the moon. Here’s one shot I managed to get while the clouds threatened to block the sun and the moon today. In Huntsville, “totality” was only 97% and although they talked about it in the media, I did expect it to get somewhat darker. I didn’t use any special filers on my camer a either, and it seems to have worked just fine – having been very careful not to fix my gaze upon the sun. The clouds actually acted as filter in this shot, and it wouldn’t have been as good if I had used a filter.
